Reimagining Mathematics Through Technology

    Technology plays an important role in modern classrooms because it helps teachers meet student needs more effectively and makes learning more engaging. When used responsibly, educational technology can support understanding, improve organization, and provide students with meaningful feedback.

    One EdTech tool I plan to use in my future classroom is MagicSchool AI. MagicSchool AI is designed to support teachers with planning, assessment, differentiation, and student supports. Instead of replacing teaching, it helps teachers work more efficiently so they can focus on students.

    In my future classroom, I would use MagicSchool AI mainly for lesson planning, creating exit tickets, and generating differentiated practice. For example, I could use the tool to create Algebra 1 practice problems at different levels, so all students are working toward the same learning goal but at a level that meets their needs. I could also use MagicSchool AI to create quick exit tickets to check for understanding and plan the next day’s lesson based on student responses.

    One major benefit of using technology like MagicSchool AI is timesaving. Teachers often spend many hours planning and preparing materials. By reducing this workload, I would have more time to build relationships with students, analyze learning data, and provide feedback. Another benefit is equity. MagicSchool AI can help adapt instruction for English Language Learners, students with learning differences, and students who need extra support, making learning more accessible.

    However, there are also challenges when integrating technology. One challenge is over-reliance. If technology is used as a shortcut, students may not develop critical thinking skills. Another concern is academic honesty, especially when AI tools are involved. To address these challenges, I would set clear expectations for how technology should be used and teach students that AI is a support tool, not a replacement for learning or thinking.

    In conclusion, technology can greatly enhance teaching and learning when used with purpose and responsibility. Tools like MagicSchool AI can support effective instruction, save time, and promote inclusive practices. As a future educator, I plan to use technology thoughtfully to support learning while keeping students and meaningful instruction at the center of my classroom.
